PLANT SAKRAND |
| The Main Seed Processing
Plant Sakrand was installed during 1982 and inaugurated by
the Lt. Gen (R) S.M. Abbasi Governor of Sindh. There are 02
main sections of the plant i.e. Cereal & Ginning Section.
The Cereal Section is working satisfactorily since its commissioning.
However its capacity has been reduced to about 70% due to
passage of time. Whereas the Ginning Plant (LUMUS) and mechanical
delinting plant (Haberman) are un-operative since its commissioning.
While locally installed Ginning Plant having 05 Sawgins (90
Saws each) is operative since its installation in 1994, whose
ginning capacity is 3000 M.T. |

There are 11 x Mini Seed Processing Plants
having the capacity of 1000 kgs / hour (25 mds) which were
received from Japan’s Government in Aid during 1996-97.

UTILIZATION OF SEED PLANTS |

A total quantity of 80264 x kgmds of Wheat
Seed was purchased, out of which 4484 x kgmds seed was rejected
by FSC&RD. As such 75780 mds of seed was processed at
the Main Seed Processing Plant Sakrand and Mini Processing
Plants at Ghotki as under:- |

| PROCESSING FACILITIES TO THE GROWERS THROUGH
MOBILE UNITS |
Seed Processing Facilities
are being provided to the growers at their door steps on their
demand. In the year 2007-2008 about 10000 mds of wheat of
private growers was processed through the mobile units at
their door steps. |
