Function |
Agriculture
Extension Services Sindh has responsibility to advise / educate
growers / farmers in modern crop production practices and
technologies, so as to increase over all farm production and
improves yield per unit area. To achieve the goal, the Agriculture
Extension Worker are performing their duties to disseminate
the timely seasonal information amongst the growers for cultural
practices; proper seed requirement, timely sowing, balanced
and efficient use of fertilizer, efficient/judicious use of
irrigation water, pesticide use, effective crop management,
harvesting, threshing and storage / marketing etc. |

To disseminate the information
concerning to growing, management and marketing of crops through
personal, group contact and various means of mass media. |

To educate and train farmers
in modern techniques of sowing, irrigation, fertilizer application,
insect pest disease & weed control, and harvesting &
threshing of crops. |

To serve as resource base
for agricultural knowledge and provide information to growers
on issues like insect pest out break, environmental changes
etc etc. |

To introduce new crop and
crop varieties and farm machinery & tools among growers
as and when developed / recommended by Agriculture Research
and Agriculture Engineering Wings. |

To introduce the use of
fertilizer, pesticide and weedicide to increase the yield
per hectare. |
|
To coordinate with input
supplying organization for their timely availability. |
|
To prevent adulteration
of pesticides and fertilizers. |
|
To implement area and production
targets and collect agricultural statistics for sowing position
in the province. |

To implement the Cotton
control Act. |
|
To supervise Agricultural
Marketing Organization in implementation of Agriculture Produce
Market Act. |

To co-ordinate with the Federal Agencies. |

| Activities |
|
New technologies, compost mannuring, EM technology, integrated
pest management, laser leveling, cultivation on ridges, bed
and furrows etc. are being disseminated among farmers. |
|
Use of zinc and boron in cotton and zinc in rice has been
popularized. |
|
Technology of optimum use of water in cotton was popularized
in cotton areas. |
|
In view of water shortage, replacement of rice by cotton was
introduced in district Larkana, Shikarpur, Jacobabad & Kashmore. |
|
Coordinated with private seed companies to ensure availability
of certified seed. |
|
Pest scouting program launched in cotton and rice growing
districts. |
|
Integrated Plant Nutrient & Soil Management technology
is being disseminated in the area of Water Boards under World
Bank Assisted Project Sindh On Farm Water Management Project. |
|
To minimize the use of pesticides; with the collaboration
of PARC, an IPM programme has been launched in cotton, mango,
vegetables and rice crops. |
