BRIEF:-
In Sindh, the area and production of Masoor (Rabi Pulses) crop for the year 2004-05 is finally assesed at 6193 Hectares and 3550 M.Tons, as compared to 8477 Hectares and 4652 M.Tons of last year's final estimate, which shows a decrease of 26.94% in area and 23.69% in production.
The reasons of decrease in both area and production are as under:

AREA:-
1. Due to no inundation in River Indus, less area of lentil crop was brought under cultivation on riverbed, where this crop is cultivated as bosi.
2. due to decrease in area of Rice crop, on whose residual moisture this crop is cultivated as dobari.

PRODUCTION:-
1. Production decreased due to decrease in area.

BRIEF:-
In Sindh, the area and production of Mattar (Rabi Pulses) crop for the year 2004-05 is finally assesed at 55976 Hectares and 27655 M.Tons, as compared to 67971Hectares and 36619 M.Tons of last year's final estimate, which shows a decrease of 17.65% in area and 24.48% in production.
The reasons of decrease in both area and production are as under:

AREA:-
1. Paddy crop is cultivated on less area on which residual moisture Mattar is cultivated as dobari crop.
2. No inundatino in River Indus, caused decline in area, where this crop is cultivated as bosi.
3. The growers switched-over the Mattar crop area towards Wheat crop, due to better market rate of WHeat grain.

PRODUCTION:-
1. Production decreased to due to decrease in are.

In Sindh, the area and production of Other (Rabi Pulses) crop for the year 2004-05 is estimated at 602 Hectares and 287 M.Tons, as compared to 905 Hectares and 406 M.Tons of last year's final estimate, which shows a decrease of 33.48% in area and 29.31% in production.
The reasons of decrease in both area and production are as under:

AREA:
1. Due to no inundation in River Indus, where this crop is cultivated as bosi.
2. Less area cultivated under Paddy crop on which residual moisture Rabi Pulses cultivated ad dobari crop.
3. Due to shortage of irrigation water, growers preferred to cultivate other profitable crops i.e wheat, sunflower etc.

PRODUCTION:-
1. Production decreased due to decrease in area.
